Qualifying Conditions for a Medical Card
Qualifying medical conditions for medical card under the Alaska state law that are eligible for a medical recommendation in Alaska are:
- Cancer
- Glaucoma
- HIV/AIDS
or any chronic or debilitating disease or treatment for any of these condition(s) which produces for the specific patient:
- Cachexia
- Chronic or Severe Pain
- Severe Nausea
- Seizures, including those that are characteristic of Epilepsy
- Persistent Muscle Spasms, including those that are characteristic of Multiple Sclerosis.
- Any other medical condition or treatment approved by the department or approval of a petition.
Subject to the approval of the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, other conditions may be added at any time.
Alaskan residents may use the application packet below to apply for a Medical Marijuana Registry card. There are five (5) steps outlined on page 2 of the application that must be completed before a determination may be made by the Bureau. Please read the instructions and statutes included in the packet below carefully. Failure to do so could result in denial of your marijuana registry card. If you are denied, you will not be allowed to reapply for a period of at least 6 months (AS 17.37.010(i)).
